El hecho ocurrió alrededor de las 3 am en una calle comercial llena de gente cerca de muchos hoteles en un distrito histórico que atrae a visitantes de todo el mundo.

No se habían reportado víctimas mortales, y la policía dijo que respondieron rápidamente al incidente ya que había patrullas adicionales en servicio para un partido de fútbol universitario anual de fin de semana del Día de Acción de Gracias en la ciudad.

“Teníamos agentes en ese mismo bloque que pensaban que estaban siendo atacados”, dijo el superintendente de la policía Shaun Ferguson a los periodistas.

“Desafortunadamente, había tanta gente aquí que no pudimos determinar quién estaba disparando en ese momento. No sabemos cómo empezó”.

Sin embargo, posteriormente el Departamento de Policía informó que había detenido a una “persona de interés” vinculada al hecho.
